I love your translations and wanted to ask you to translate this into japanese: 'Is it a sin for me to live Because I am evil' Thank you very much!
This is a very, very difficult question to answer. Translated literally, it would be: “私は悪だから、生きていることは罪ですか？” (Watashi wa aku dakara, ikiteirukoto wa tsumi desu ka?)
However, this is very literal and is stilted and odd-sounding in Japanese. There are any number of poetic ways to say it, and it depends on context and what tone you are going for.
I am not a native speaker of Japanese, and therefore cannot put things into poetic-sounding Japanese. I asked my tutor, and she came up with this (much more lyrical than mine): “私は生きるに値しない、罪深い人間ですか？” (Watashi wa ikiru ni atai shinai, tsumi bukai ningen desu ka?)
So, to answer your question, I’m not the person to ask about this. A native Japanese speaker, or someone who is much, much more fluent than I, would be the only one capable of making it not sound odd. Translation is best done into your native language, not into your learned language.
